More appropriately termed degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis, patients with this condition often experience pain, stiffness, and limitations with motion. Although arthritic changes cannot be reversed, chiropractic can help restore joint function.
This condition results from damage to the basket like weaving of the outer fibers of the disc. This damage allows the inner “jelly” of the disc to bulge or protrude.
This condition is characterized by a slippage of one vertebrae over the other and can result in local pain/stiffness as well neurological symptoms of nerve impingements. Depending on the severity of the spondylolisthesis this condition can respond well to chiropractic care or may require a referral to an orthopedic surgeon.
